Got email wanting me to update on Linda. She has had one very small hole from a suture from her amputation in Feb that refused to heal. It has been draining some constantly. Cultures have not shown any bad infection, yet it would not stop. Went to Amarillo Thursday week for day surgery. Dr. opened site, drained fluid, cleaned, and then re-closed. Sat week ago, getting out of walk in tub, she sat down on chair fairly hard and site had an eruption of fluid again, 30cc+. I got it cleaned and redressed with pressure dressing and lot of packing. Site continued to drain large amount till Monday . Notified Dr. office and if site continued to drain till Thursday to return to office for check. Site continued to drain quite a bit Tues. morning, Wed. morning so to Amarillo Thur and Dr appointment. New dressing on Wed night, got to Dr office and removed dressing, little or no drainage finally,so will go back next Friday to take out stitches and see what happens.She has been doing PT at home since discharge, did have PT coming to house along with home health. PT ceased so Linda and Courtney Thompson are doing some on their own. Getting around in wheelchair, does get out for church, her hair and nail appointments,has made Red Hatter meetings, and some running around. Can do several things on her own, progress.But no prosthesis until healed, working on that. (sorry for gruesome details, but that is what has been asked) She says she likes calls, I share the emails.
