Got home tonight to find a 40ft trawler had anchored within 20ft of my boat (when he swung in the wind he was less than 15 off my starboard bow) its midnight and by morning its forcasted to be over 20knts of wind. It so happened that as Im on deck worrying about them dragging, which all they needed was 10ft to hit me, the local fire department happens to go by so I politely asked them to awaken them so we could talk about them moving. The owner comes out pissed thinking I specifically called the police on him and claims that yes there will be bad weather tomorrow but they are leaving at sunrise (by then it will be 20knts) he ends up moving up to a reasonable distance but I cant fathom what went through their head that they thought anchoring that close with heavy winds forcasted was acceptable.
