Got my results back from Ancestry. Interesting. 55% England, Wales and Scotland. My grandmother (and possibly grandfather--long story) is from England and she was a war bride. So thats really interesting--esp. since I expected to see a majority being German. The next highest was 18%. That still wasnt German--it was Russia, Austria, Czech, Serbia, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Croatia, etc.... Not sure of the connection to these areas. Then there was 17% Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, etc... My maternal grandparents were German. 5% Ireland 2% Scandinavian 1% European Jewish 1% Northwest Russia/Finland Less than 1% Greece/Italy 100% European in the end
