Got paid an amazing compliment today by one of Englands most respected guitarists and folk artists. Martin Simpson was staying with us at Mums house and I dropped by to say hi and to have breakfast with my son Michael. martinsimpson/ Anyway Martin has had an amazing career including living and playing around New Orleans and working with some amazing people over the years. He wanted to play my guitar, one made by my Dad, and he did, wonderful playing, and we all enjoyed listening, then he went to get ready to go, pack up his grip and get on the road to Taunton tonight for a gig with his driver Terry (another lovely chap). I sat in the living room, played a bit and sang a couple of tunes to myself. He came in, stood to one side listening, me getting more and more nervous though and then when I finished the first thing he said was Thats a hit, thats a hit song, and asked me to send him it so he can play it! I told him I had a few more too ;-) Its getting hard to ignore this road thats laying out in front of me.
