Got this message on Judys new phone today after porting our existing number from AT&T to Verizon: WELCOME TO VERIZON WIRELESS. YOUR REQUEST TO TRANSFER YOUR NUMBER TO VERIZON WIRELESS IS COMPLETE. PLEASE DIAL *228 SEND AND THEN OPTION 1 TO PROGRAM YOUR PHONE. Looks like its all done, right? Wrong! When I dialed *228 the phone says the number is still the old temporary number. Furthermore, now neither phone works! At least the little Android phone from Verizon can use wifi and take pictures so its at least an inexpensive iPod Touch with a camera (actually 2) at the moment. Sigh. Oh well, if I very carefully parse the Verizon message above it does say my request is complete, not the actual porting itself. So far my best phone is the freebie google hangout on my iPad. It makes the clearest calls of all as long as there is wifi handy.
