Got up at 5 this morning to fly to Guilin. Annoyingly the plane was an hour late. It was raining when we left Beijing and when we landed so it was like arriving into a sauna as it is about 32 degrees here. Beautiful scenery of pointy limestone mountains. People riding bikes, mopeds, scooters carrying umbrellas! Stephen and Alexa went swimming in the lovely outdoor pool but I had a snooze. Went for a stroll round the adjoining lake. Dinner in hotel. Tomorrow another early start for a four hour boat trip down the river Li to our next hotel - more in the countryside.
