HAPPY NEW YEAR! The February issue of The World of Interiors is on sale this Friday. Prehen House (this month’s cover) in Londonderry was constructed in the 1740s for Andrew Knox MP, in return for the commission to build Lifford courthouse. Two and a bit centuries later, new owner Carola Peck thoroughly overhauled its crumbling interiors. Plus, many cool inhabitants, from Kate Moss to Jasper Morrison, have enjoyed the ramshackle charms of the London flat now owned by fashion designer Bella Freud; squeezed into a triangular plot on a sharp corner in Patmos, Idarica Gazzoni’s ancient house has a peculiar layout; out of nothing, or rather a wilderness of Corsican scrub, interior designer Henri Garelli has created a villa of un-surpassing elegance; designed by Le Corbusier in the 1950s, the Couvent Sainte-Marie de La Tourette incorporates a roof terrace that’s wide open to the sky; and the stone-carving and marble workshop known as Dall’Era has been contributing to the beauty of Venice for nigh on 120 years.
