Government Architect James Barnett designed Bulli Court House in - TopicsExpress

Government Architect James Barnett designed Bulli Court House in 1881. (Image 1) It looked so much better before the extension to the south was tacked on. (image 4) Its certainly a beautiful building to be arrested in - but that extension to the south looks pretty God awful. (Image 2) Barnett seems to have disliked excessive ornamentation and his buildings have an almost unfriendly kind of ehavy dignity - pretty fitting, I guess, if you are about to go down for ten years or so. I think I would have liked the kind of severity that the Bulli Court House building probbaly originally possessed before it was rather brutally extended to the south. In that respect I think he town of Berry (image 3) has won out with the fact that its James Barnett design (completed in 1890) has been mercifully saved from having an ugly extension tacked on to its side.
