Governments and the courts many times make funny decisions. In case of Acid attacks, sale of Acid was banned all over the country. Now in Delhi rape case the Government has banned the web based taxi services. By that measure, Delhi police should have been banned for issuing character certificate to the accused, in spite of his dubious background. The Government must not make its policies as a knee jerk reaction. Instead of banning the Taxi service , there should be a separate category of Taxi drivers licence, which should be issued only by central agencies, like issue of Passports, after stringent background checks, driving tests and a minimum qualification of Matriculation. There should be a central data base of all taxi drivers, available with the government with Bio metrics, like Adhar Card. It will help curbing the crime.
