Governor Bentley has balanced the budget every year. . . . . . . . . Stop right there. If anyone runs for office in Alabama and you hear them bragging about balancing the budget (Phil Williams likes to do this) stop them dead in their tracks. The Alabama Constitution *requires* that the budget be balanced. An unbalanced budget cannot pass the legislature it is a technical impossibility, not a bragging right. Lots of folks running for re-election on doing nothing more than the absolute bare minimum of what is required of their office. This November, vote for a Better Alabama, and send Bare Minimum politicians back home.
