Governor Rick Perry signed House Bill 5 into law on June 10, 2013. This new law reduces the number of required end-of-course assessments from fifteen to five. These include: ELA I, ELA II, Algebra I, Biology, and US History. English Language Arts tests are combined into one assessment instead of separate reading and writing tests. For summer retesting, students will only be retesting on the above subject areas. Students will not be retesting on Geometry, World Geography, World History, or Chemistry. For the English I and II Writing and Reading tests, those tests will still be administered separately. The dates for retesting are below. Testing will begin at 8:00 a.m. each day, and students will have 4 hours to test. Monday, July 8- English I Writing Tuesday, July 9- English I Reading Wednesday, July 10- English II Writing Thursday, July 11- English II Reading Monday, July 15- Algebra I Tuesday, July 16- Biology Tutorial Schedule: English- June 24-27 (9:00-12:00) Algebra I- June 24-27 (9:00-12:00) and July 1, 2, 8 (9:00-1:00) Biology- June 24-25 (9:00-12:00)
