Govindpura Baoli ~ Just 10 kms away from Kota on Kota-Bundi border - TopicsExpress

Govindpura Baoli ~ Just 10 kms away from Kota on Kota-Bundi border lies this beautiful stepwell. Though not as intricate (or probably grand) as Ranji ki baoli in Bundi, but it surely stands as a tough contender as far as architecture is concerned…may be almost on the same lines. Like the others in this region, it has two chattris at the start with Saraswati (on left) and Ganesha (on right) as you enter. Apart from the other deities (and some stories) that are found in the small niches, there is one deity in the innermost chamber that is actively worshipped. As per a local, that is Shagaz ji (this is how he pronounced it) and is a deity associated with some ghosts etc (would love if someone know about it & can throw some light). The baoli still has water which is being used for fields around the village. The most interesting part for me was to see some big turtles cooling off in the water... :)
