Govt employee caught red handed with a female, Police resorted to aerial firing to disperse mob Ganderbal: Situation turned ugly in Tulmula area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday when agitated people assaulted a ‘debauch’ government employee after catching him red handed with a female in compromising position in a government office when it was a public holiday. Eyewitnesses said that some people were puzzled to see Zonal Education Office located in Tulmula Khirbhawani open on holiday. “A group of people earlier had seen a couple entering into the office, but they did not cast any doubt as the male whom they had seen was the employee of the office,” a shopkeeper said, adding that it was not the first time that people of the area observed the couple entering into the office during holidays. Witnesses said that some people stealthy entered into the office and found the couple indulging in obscene act. Reports said that scores of people pounced on the debauch government employee and thrashed him mercilessly while the female, a resident of Nagabal Ganderbal, managed to flee from the spot with the help of some respectable citizens. Agitated mob set his motor cycle on fire. Eyewitnesses said that it was the timely intervention of police personnel that accused was saved from the wrath of the violent assailants who were hell-bent to ‘slaughter’ the accused. A police party from Khir Bhawani police station headed by Station House Officer Mir Imtiyaz along with the accused took refuge in Khir Bhawani temple while violent mob continuously attacked them with stones. To disperse the protesters, who demanded that accused be handed over to them, police resorted to tear-smoke shelling and fired several bullets in air. The clashes between police and people left at least six persons including a cop injured. Reports said that mob tried to set the office building on fire as well, however, police foiled their attempt. The clashes between people and police continued for hours while it took police more than an hour to come out from the temple and take the accused to police station amid tight security. Station House Officer, Khir Bhawani, identified the accused government employee as Zahoor Ahmed Shiekh son of Muhammad Sayed resident of Salora Ganderbal. “We have registered an FIR vide number 36/2014 in this and investigation is going on,” he said. Srinagar based news agency CNS quoted Chief Education Officer, Ganderbal, Sanaullah Mir said that the erring employee will be suspended without any delay. The accused happens to be close relative of former National Conference leader Shiekh Ghulam Rasool Saloora who recently floated his own political party.
