Gracie asks me to look under the tree this early morning. No presents under, and I didnt see anything else so...what gives? She hollers to look under the tree skirt where I find a small mass that I guess was a remnant of a mouse, (good kitty). So, I go to get cleanup stuff and deliver a lecture and by the time I get back, the now freed dogs have pawed the skirt to get at the mouse and spilled the tree water... So I get towels and lift the plywood stand a half an inch while Carole mops under. She asks Gracie to hold the tree and I ask her to get some shims for the stand so the hardwood will dry under the tree stand. A moments hesitation and TIMBER!!!! There was a bit of emotion in the room... Happy ending! We got it back up! We did lose some keepsakes but all things considered, were good to go! The tree looks great! Merry Christmas!
