“Gracious acceptance is an art - an art which most never bother to cultivate. We think that we have to learn how to give, but we forget about accepting things, which can be much harder than giving.... Accepting another persons gift is allowing him to express his feelings for you.” Giving and receiving is like a night sky without a star to light it up .You can’t have one without the other. In learning to give, you have to learn to receive as well. Don’t rob someone else of their joy in giving, just because pride stands in the way of you receiving something. There is a time for helping. A time for being bold. But, along with these things, there is a time for being humble. There is a time for being still within yourself, and admitting when you need help. It is important to experience being on both sides of the spectrum of giving and receiving. If you give all the time and don’t accept or admit when you need help, you may become proud and think of yourself as invincible. However, if you are constantly accepting, constantly taking, you will never learn how to stand on your own two feet. You will never become self sufficient, and will expect everything to be handed to you. Be humble, but not pathetic. Be proud, but not arrogant. Master balancing these things, and you will have mastered yourself.
