Gramma Tickle says ... RELATIVE PRONOUNS ‘that’ and ‘which’ can be used interchangeably to introduce a RELATIVE CLAUSE as long as it is RESTRICTIVE (essential to the meaning of the sentence). However, to introduce a clause that is NON-RESTRICTIVE (optional to the meaning of the sentence), use ‘which’ only. Note that such clauses are always set off by commas. YES: Here is the house that Jack built. YES: Here is the house which Jack built. YES: Here is Jack’s house, which is yellow. NO: Here is Jack’s house, that is yellow.
