Once you are hired they will give you a couple different schedule options to choose from that work with your schedule. You are also allowed to trade with other employees, so if you need a day off. I have worked there for 6 years and enjoyed it. You can apply online at https://captioncall/Captioncall/Careers/Communications-Assistant.aspx NOW ONTO THE JOB DESCRIPTION!!!! The job description is basically captioning calls. Kind of like captioning on your TV but it is for a phone of a hard of hearing person. You hear 1 part of the conversation & speak out loud & the computer dictates the message to the customers phone on the other end. Its so easy since you dont have to type the call. It seems a little strange to speak out loud what you just heard while still listening to the conversation to relay what they are saying next. But it really does get easier and comes second nature! Is easy once you are trained. The only typing you do is to fix mistakes the dictating program might make. But its 99% done by speech recognition. Even though its speech recognition during interview process you must take a type test and pass 30 wpm, but its super easy with several tries. Just go to typingtest/ and use this site to practice your typing skills. You only have to type 40 wpm once at the start of the interview process & you are done. At the interview you will start off taking the type test. If pass with 30 wpm then you go to take the speech test. This is a random youtube video to help you practice talking along to be able to dictate a call. youtu.be/aUgEWwSFcFs You will start talking w/it staying about 2 to 3 words behind it and verbatim is important. We have to make sure we caption the whole call as it was spoken. Sometimes the program doesnt always pick up words ending with t, like cant, dont, shouldnt etc so in that case you are allowed to get in the habit of automatically saying could not, would not, should not etc. Thats the only time you can say it different then you heard it. The person assigned to help you will explain how to do all this. You will get a chance to practice dictating before you take the real test. Once u get 95% or higher you will go meet w/a manager and get interviewed. It sounds really complicated & intimidating but I PROMISE it isnt & you will do great! :-) Its really easy work for the pay and you can bring stuff to do between calls homework, books, crocheting etc. Another perk with us having have 8 centers in 5 states you can start in one center and if moving elsewhere you can transfer where another center is located. Apply at https://captioncall/Captioncall/Careers/Communications-Assistant.aspx selecting the city location you want and PLEASE list my name, Savannah Wilson as referring employee/reference. I would greatly appreciate it. Here are videos so you can see what things are like: Here is a video of a hard of hearing person checking their voice mail. What is being shown on the screen is what the operator heard and then repeated it into the mic and it is being captioned to the customers phone for them to read. youtu.be/4MgMulAejHg Also here are two other youtube videos about our company.... youtube/watch?v=r6Nm8EPclOM&feature=youtube_gdata_player youtube/watch?v=nzzFEWvMpRU&feature=youtube_gdata_playe Thanks for reading all this info I know it can be overwhelming but it really is easy work and once trained it is super easy. DO NOT HESITATE TO MESSAGE ME IF YOU HAVE MORE QUESTIONS OR NEED ANY HELP!!! I am happy to help you anyway i can. I hope you check out our site and the above videos and apply. Again please put my name, Savannah Wilson as referring employee. Thanks!!!
