Grand Theft Auto 5 News It’s news day, and for our first edition we’re going to be talking about Grand Theft Auto 5. This will the first of a 2 part article. Now I doubt that there is a gamer in the world that doesn’t know about Grand Theft Auto 5 or further yet, isn’t excited about it, which might make you wonder “how exactly is this ‘news’ then”. But there are some aspects of the game that you might not know about yet, and theres still a lot of questions that have been left unanswered by Rockstar. So right now we can only speculate on what could appear in the game. And that’s what we’re gonna talk about today. We’ve known from the very start that GTA 5 was going to be the most ambitious Grand Theft yet, but until we saw the screenshots and the trailers i don’t think anyone really knew what we were in for. Despite the map not being a expansive as San Andreas’ three-city-state sized map, Rockstar have made it exceedingly clear that it will, in fact, be much bigger in scale, despite not having released an official screenshot of the map itself. But based on a few fan made interpretations of the map, which are based on the screenshots and other clues we’ve seen, we think it will be approximately 3 to 5 TIMES THE SIZE of the Red Dead Redemption map. (if you haven’t played Red Dead yet, i strongly suggest it.) And with a map this size, it will of course, be absolutely packed with as much content and detail as possible, so it would be a shame to limit the player as to what he can see or do at any time, which is why Rockstar have decided to ditch their map unlocking feature, making it completely open from day 1. It’s not only the scale of that map thats so impressive, it’s the diversity of it. You can explore Suburban communities, bustling cities, coastal paradises, underwater nirvanas and beautiful mountain ranges. But its not just the map that’s diverse. The range of vehicles in the game will be bigger than ever, including a wider scope of cars, helicopters, bikes and boats as we saw in Grand Theft Auto 4. But also planes, atv’s, buggies, jet-ski’s and even submarines! And of course there will be a wide range of animals in the game, whether you encounter the majestic deer or a mountain lion that wants to rip you to pieces, you will definitely come across some of the typical californian wildlife. And again referring back to Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar have obviously learned a lot from the responses of all those who played the game, and have decided to bring a prominent feature of RDR into GTA. This is the randomised dynamic missions that made Red Dead the game we never wanted to stop playing because it never got boring. With things like ambushes, robberies and saving lynch victims in RDR being such an attractive feature, i’m sure that in GTA 5 we can look forward to getting our own back on carjackers and muggers, but also picking up hitchhikers and investigating some more... unusual scenarios. Also demonstrating the dynamics of the game are the NPC’s (non-playable characters) or in other words, the everyday people you see wandering around the streets. In GTA 5 they will will have a more sophisticated AI which will make them much more involved in the world. In Grand Theft 4 they seemed to be vaguely busy but never doing much more than walking around, talking on the phone, smoking, etcetera. So it seems the people of Los Santos can be seen doing things like buying food, going to work or coming home, and taking part in activities appropriate to their area, such as fishing, playing B-ball or shooting up crack. The police in the game will also have a much more sophisticated AI which should make encounters with them a lot more interesting. For example, lower level crimes will result in you getting a ticket or getting tased, instead of Los Santos finest simply pumping you full of led every time you bump into a squad car or start a fight. Though as you progress into more sociopathic endeavours the police will use dogs, helicopters, roadblocks, car pursuit tactics and even snipers (thats right! Snipers!) to take you down. So it looks like escaping the shackles of the law will prove more difficult than ever before and you’ll need to do more than just get in a car, stomp on the gas pedal, and blow their cruisers into the dust as it has been before. For the first time stealth will be crucial for evading police, which means they will have to work on a line-of-sight system, something we can definitely use to our advantage. All of this is just a small part of what is, undoubtedly, going to make Grand Theft Auto 5 one of the best games ever, to date. But lets not forget about what makes GTA what it is. If we can rely on Rockstar for anything, besides making a fantastic game, it’s them adding that perfect balance between realism and lunacy they’ve always done so well. I hope you enjoyed reading and of course hope you will comment or message if you think there’s anything that could be added or if there is something you know that we don’t or even if theres just anything you want to say. So please comment, like and share. Thanks. Written by BLACKHALO9
