Grandma moved in with us a year and a half ago with an estimated 2 weeks to a month to live. My wife, a natural-born caregiver, extended that time to a year and a half, and grandma passed from us yesterday. It was a very peaceful passing, with her daughter Janet (my mom), Diane and I with her and talking to her, until she simply stopped breathing and went home. She was a strong woman, very outgoing, and never met a stranger in her life. Everybody was a friend that she hadnt introduced herself to yet. She loved to tell her stories, and with the very full and adventurous life she led, she had a lot of stories. Truck driver, backhoe operator, telephone operator, gas station attendant/owner, mechanic, file clerk, the list of her occupations and abilities goes on. She was about as shy as a hurricane. If you offended her (hard to do, but some did), she would tell you all about yourself in no uncertain terms. Slow to anger but quick to forgive. She would forgive you 99 times for the same offense, but if you did it that 100th time, there would be a discussion. Followed by forgiveness. We miss you grandma and we love you, and well see you again in time.
