Grant Hospital offers free valet parking to outpatients. I arrived there this morning for two tests and availed myself of the parking. The young lady who escorted me upstairs was very pleasant and we didnt get lost. A nurse tried to give me an iv. couldnt figure out how to do it. my two tests were different, one requiring a dye, one forbidding it. the no dye was supposed to happen upstairs, the with dye afterwards downstairs. 9 a.m., time for the first test, came and went. 10 a.m. time for the second, came and went. at 11 they took me downstairs. i reminded them about the first test, no dye, etc. she told me not to worry, the dye would be out of my system so they were going to do the dye test first. im sure this would have come as news to the cardiologist who ordered it, but then what would he know, hes only a cardiologist, shes a ct scan tech. but first, theres some third test they decide to do. into the ct scan i go. do a couple of take a breath, let it go, then nothing. no communication, just leave me in the cat scan. cant see anyone. cant hear anyone. after a half hour i start to protest loudly and someone comes and takes me out. turns out the tech who knew more about dye than the cardiologist didnt seem to know anything about the computer she was supposed to operate. thats it. im outta here. they produce a supervisor who assures me everything is now ready to go. really? by this time theyve convinced me that if i was in the hospital for a tonsiletomy, theyd probably amputate a leg. im gone. to give the devil his due when i went to the valet parking, they did get my car for me. right car. first time too.
