Grant evaluations for 2013-14 are coming in. Gifted students loved the Rubiks Cube Project: Approximately 60 students utilized the Rubik’s Cube during their weekly pull-out gifted classes or during a one day enrichment experience sponsored by the Gifted Department at Hageman Education Center. Of the thirty-three students who attempted to learn to solve the entire cube during pull-out classes, thirty-one were successful! The youngest student was a first grader! The determination and perseverance of the students was incredible. It was difficult to get them to stop working to return to class. They often begged to spend their recess time working to solve the cube. The students also created their own mosaic designs using 12 cubes. It was a wonderful opportunity to be creative and work collaboratively with others. My students can’t wait to continue this project next year!
