*Graphic Images* Hemangiosarcoma is a vascular tumor that will spread throughout the body. It is most commonly found in the spleen of dogs. It is not common in horses, though it can occur at any age. Extremities are more common in horses, along with the head and paranasal sinus cavities. This tumor spread first to the lungs, then the abdomen, and can spread to the brain. Removal can be associated with hemorrhage, which must be controlled. Brachytherapy is used to kill the tumor after debulking, most commonly with Iridium-192. This is local radiation implanted into the tissue, to be removed after a pre-determined dose and time.
