Grassroots Nation!!!! Mark your calendars and come see the shows!!!!! That is right I used the plural version. The Football Gods have blessed us! You know I mean that as a figure of speech because I believe there is but one GOD!!!! Just sounds better when trying to get the word out about an amazing event. Beginning Sat and Sun, December 6th and 7th, the FBU National Championship Tournament begins!!!! We will unveil the star studded roster for the 2014 version of Team MD!!!! OMG have prior versions been insane. To give you a preview of the type of talent that has graces the rosters, it all started with the trailblazing 8th Grade class of 2011, who represent the graduating class of 2016. At QB, All Met Ramar Williams (McNamara),All WCAC RB & OL Lo Lo Harrison and Terrance Davis (DeMatha), All WCAC OL Richard Merritt (Carroll), All Met WRs Travon Diggs (Avalon) and Steven Smothers (Franklin). Star RBs James Green (Forestville) and Devin Montgomery (Ryken), just to name a few. You guys dont want to begin counting the total number of scholarship offers they have all recieved! Our 2012 8th Grade class was led by QB and OL Kasim Hill & Cam Spence (Gilman), RB Anthony McFarland and WR Delonte Hellams (DeMatha), LB Jalen Lea (Good Counsel) and just too many freaks to name on one post! The 7th Grade National Champions were led by QB Dejuan Ellis (OConnell), WR/DB Raymond Boone, WR/LB Noah Taylor, and OL Austin Fontaine (DeMatha), RB/LB Jason Labbe (Gonzaga), RB/LB Keith Felton (Eastern Christian), WR/DB Brandon Willis (Gilman), OL/DL Devin Petrillo (Westlake), Center Daniel Hood (Spalding) and many more. Last year in 2013 we sent our 6th and 8th graders to the Final Four, with the 8th grade class adding the following studs and even more to the National Championship Team. OL/DL Cam Goode (St. Johns), OL/DL Evan Gregory and TE Thomas Booker (Gilman), RBs Tremayne Stott (Good Counsel) and Rashard Jackson (Ryken), OL/DL Cody Winokur (Spalding), DB Nami Brown (DeMatha), current 8th grade phenom DT Myles Triple Stacks Harris, and many more!!! Head coach Terrence Byrd and Triple Stacks will lead a revamped group of 8th graders into this tournament. RB Keilan Robinson has blazing speed and our core group of RBs who many of you know are outstanding. Dont want to reveal too much about this team yet, so I will stop now. Trust me, you have to see them!!!! Our 7th grade team led by Head Coach Greg Clark, QB Trace Campbell and RB Antwain The Cannon Littleton (who is anything but little) has added some insane pieces to a Final Four team from 2013! I am only giving you a couple of names that you already know about and they will NOT disappoint. It is the addition of the names you dont know about that will make your head pop off! Tanardo Sharps will be the head coach of our 6th grade team, which will be headlined by the sensational Gary Rosemond Jr. (AKA Light Speed). Just giving you one appetizer for your 6th grade palate and he is all that and a bag Crab flavored Lays Potato Chips. But if you think for a minute that he is all alone you have NO IDEA!!! 6th grade is stacked to the hilt. You just dont want to miss this show! It all kicks off on Sat December 6th at Mt. Vernon HS in Alexandria, VA. Detailed schedule will be on the GYFL website soon! Please refer to fbunc for the official FBU National Championship updates. They already have a 30 minute National Preview Show online that is truly spectacular and you need to check it out and spread the word. The FBU National Championship is only 4 years old so many of you may not be aware of how the youth football landscape has changed. We love the traditional post season tournaments and will not get into a battle of words of which is better. FBU is just different and fits totally in line with the Grassroots All Star philosphy. We know everyone does not agree with our philosophy and we respect that. Bit for those that do, the choice is very simple. All you have to do is a little bit of homework and you see that this tournament rolls right into the Eastbay All American Games, the Adidas Freshman All American Games, The US Army All American HS Game, and the top Youth and HS Scouting services in the United States of America!!! Our focus is college football scholarships at Grassroots and to maximize the chances of a young man being offered one, they need to be at a good HS, but it is just as important that they need be ranked by the scouting services. The difference in the Grassroots model is that we not only feed to all the top HS In the area, but we feed directly into the top National Scouting Services, and if you dont know anything about who they are, how they work, and how critical they are to the process, then you need to inbox me immediately and get in the know. All the top public and private HS coaches in tbe DMV will be at Mt. Vernon HS on Dec 6th. Where will you be? Do your research, make your decision and spread the word!!! Now, in the beginning I said plural if you remember. That is because we only have 35 slots for FBU teams. Many of the best kids are still playing in tournaments and cant commit to to the FBU schedule. Contrary to popular belief, we are not trying to pull kids away from programs that they are loyal to and are good for them. We created an additional elite All Star opportunity for them. Kids that come from programs like Charm City and Shutdown for example from Baltimore. Or kids from Ward 5 and Watkins from DC. We know they are still playing and cant be in 2 places at one time. We created the Youth Crab Bowl just for them! On Dec 20th and 21st, two weeks after most National Championships are played, the place to be is Westminster MD at McDaniel college!!!! The best from the North, South, East, and West will come together and GET IT ON!!!!! Kids like Will The Go Willa Moore will come together from the West (Loudoun County War Eagles) to do battle with kids like TreJour Owens from the East (Charm City Bucs) in the semi finals. Elite QBs like Sam Sweeney from the South (Crofton) will play chess with shut down corners like Ronald The Chef Cook from the North (MoHo Co) Championships to be played on Sunday before the High School Crab Bowl!!! Cmon man....... This is just riduculous!!!!!! A High School coaches and Scouting Service evaluators heaven on earth. Still spots open for the North, South, amd East teams!! Tryouts happening Sunday for the South and East. North Tryouts on the 29th. South goes again on the 30th. Spread the word amd send your kids to get this exposure and competition!!!! Check thegyfl for All details on Crab Bowl Process, tryouts, and details!!! There you have it...... For the all star football junkies, your schedule is set: Dec 6th: First Round of FBU Tournament vs Hampton Roads All Stars. Mt. Vernon HS 8am -8pm. Dec 7th: Second Round of FBU vs TBD Mt. Vernon HS 8am -8pm. Dec 13tth: 2nd Round of FBU Tournament vs TBD Mt. Vernon HS 8am -8pm. Dec 14th: Second Round of FBU vs TBD Mt. Vernon HS 8am -8pm. Dec 20th: Semi Finals of Crab Bowl Tournament North vs South/East vs West McDaniel College in Westminster, MD 8am -8pm. Dec 21st : Crab Bowl Championahips and HS Crab Bowl McDaniel College in Westminster, MD 8am -8pm. I dont always follow Elite Level Youth Football.......... But when I do, I prefer Grassroots, FBU, and the Youth Crab Bowl. Let it be known!!!!!
