Grateful that my friend Mary, would call me, and tell me through her tears that her youngest son is in a coma in the hospital with a raging staff infection all throughout his body. Grateful that she has the support of Q96 for herself and her husband to help them with greater resiliency during this huge trial because I was willing to be an instrument. Grateful as she reminded me of how I was there for her when her first son died in 1976. . . I lived in her basement, a young mom with a husband in college. . . and now could offer loving support once more, as her youngest son (of 13 children) hangs precariously on the edge of mortality. Grateful that she would call me in a moment of fear and doubt; that friendship is eternal, even if we dont talk often or live close to many of the people whose lives have touched ours.
