Greasing the knees is a simple and fantastic thing to add into your warm ups to prepare you for squats, Olympic lifts and other movements. It will help create more range of motion in the knees and in your squat. You simply sit into as deep a squat as possible while holding onto something stable in front of you. With the heels flat into the ground and your hips nice and low, move around from side to side and in a circular motion. When this becomes easier, you can take it a step further and hold a band, broomstick or empty bar overhead and get the shoulders warmed up too. The more you do this the more comfortable you will feel sitting in deep squat positions. This will transfer nicely into your lifts, especially Olympic lifts like the snatch and cleans that often require you to stabilise the weight in the bottom before coming out of the squat.
