Great Goddess Draupadi Mata -ADI SHAKTHI Draupadi is one of the icon of Indian womanhood even today. Draupadi is one among the Sreshta Naris . The other Sreshta Naris include Sita (wife of Lord Sri Rama), Draupadi (wife of the Pancha Pandavas), Mandodari (the Demon King, Ravanas, wife), Ahilya (consort of Sage Gautama) and Tara (consort of Bali, the tyrant monkey king). Actually these women are incarnations of Shakti . Today most of the Hindus don’t know about the actual reality of Draupadi , they don’t know actually who was she ? for them she is just a mere weak woman who was insulted in the court of Hastinapur . Maharishi Veda Vyasa in Mahabharatha clearly says that Draupadi was an incarnation of Great Mother Parvati and we all know how powerful is Parvati so how can then Draupadi be weak . Mahabharatha was actually organised by Sri Krishna and Devi Draupadi or we can say made up by Vishnu and Shakti . Krishna and Devi wanted to reestablish Dhrama over the over grown Adharma . Shakta lores , Stri Mahabharatha and Cult of Goddess Draupadi says that Maha Vishnu asked Maha Devi to help him in reestablishing Dharma over Adharma and in order to take the sacrifices of all the Adharmis . Parvati agreed but she knowed that for all this she might have to face some insults but to relieve the pain of Mother Earth , Aadi Shakti accepted everything . The Great Goddess Draupadi appeared from the fire sacrifice organised by the king of Panchal and this itself proves that she was Shakti because only and only Shakti or Yoga Maya incarnates from fire just like she did as Meenakshi , Parvati Maha Sati , Renukamba and others and then she came to known as Yagyasaini . Draupadi grown into a beautiful girl , she was educated well and was skilled in wars as this was the age of matriarchy where women were treated well like men . King Drupada organised a swayamvar for her Daughter Panchali in which Draupadi was supposed to choose her Husband , Draupadi was so happy but she desired Krishna and as she was the collected form of all the Goddesses she even desired Karna , who was an incarnation or son of Surya as she was an incarnation of wife of Surya too . Draupadi was born for a purpose so she gave the chance to arjun to prove his excellency as being the shreshtha Dhanurdhar over hitting the target in the eye of the fish . Draupadi accepted Mahanayaka Arjuna as her husband but for the purpose of her birth and also it being a matriarchial age Draupadi married Arjuna along with his brothers Yudhisthira , Bheema , Nakula and Sahdeva . As in that age like men women too can marry more than one man . According to “ Draupadi Vaibhav “ recited during the festivals of Draupadi Kula it is said Mother Draupadi was the one who organised Mahabharatha and she was the one who took the sacrifices of all the Adharmis or the unwise men and paved the way for a new society to be born which would be deprived of all such evils . Draupadi and Sri Krishna made Mahabharatha to appear by playing a divine leela of the Dice Game played between Kauravas and Pandavas , where Draupadi along with Pandavas were humiliated and insulted and because of Draupadi’s curse she became the Kula Chandali of the Kuru Vansha which simply means for whom the war was organised and to whom sacrifices were offered and that’s why she is known as “ Mahabharathi “ . Draupadi is also known as Annapoorna in one her stotrams which again proves she was an incarnation of Goddess Aadi Shakti . Draupadi’s helplessness in the court of Hastinapura was her own decision as she wanted this war to happen otherwise she would have taken any of her fierce forms of Kali or Durga and would have slayed Duryodhana and Duhshasana on the spot but as a Mother she wanted to relieve the pain of earth so she accepted this insult . DRAUPADI APPEARED AS A POWERFUL DEITY : In Bangalore , each year a festival known as Karaga is organised in honour of their deity Goddess Draupadi where she is known as Draupadhi Amman . The Legend says that Not long after the great war between the Kauravas and Pandavas was over, Draupadi and her five husbands travel through a dense forest inhabited by the fierce demon Timarasura. His blood is such that if even one drop falls on the ground, a thousand of him would be regenerated from it. As she walks past alone, he makes advances. An enraged Draupadi transforms into her primordial Goddess Durga form and from various parts of her being, warriors emerge to vanquish the demon. – Yajamanas from her head, Ganachari from the forehead, Goudas from her ears, the Gante Poojari from her mouth and the Veerakumaras from her shoulders. Timarasura is killed, but before his blood can fall on the ground, she licks it up and swallows him whole. Adi Shakti Draupadi, then takes leave of her woebegone sons Veerakumaras but promises to come back for three days each year during the first full moon of the first month of the Hindu calendar ( Chaitra). She then returns to her human form as Draupadi. This is but one of many stories explaining why the return of this primordial energy, the great Mother Goddess, Adi-Shakti, is celebrated each year during the ten days of the ancient Karaga Shaktiyotsava. Waiting to serve her are the Veerakumaras, the sons of Draupadi the men with swords , these are the people of the cult of Draupadi . They are Vahnikula Kshatriyas, a sect of the Tigala community, specially chosen from their families to become dramatis personae in this sacred magnum opus. They wear the yellow thread ( kankana, interwoven with the root of the turmeric plant) on their wrists for `purity’ and wield a sword to indicate their warrior status and allegiance to the Goddess.Electricians, shopkeepers and government employees through the year, for these 10 days they transform into the guardians of the Goddess. The cult of Draupadi exists mainly in the southern parts of india and where we can find many temples of their powerful and protecting deity Draupadi who is a woman of courage, sacrifice, purity and absolute devotion . Namaha Devi Draupadi Veerapanchali ! Jai Mata Draupadhi !
