Great News for NY: Representative Borelli has introduced A09441 which would put into definition autocycle and exempt autocycles from endorsements and helmets. Although NY already had an exemption by rule written by the NY Commissioner of the DMV, it is good to have it in statute. The legislation has been assigned to the NY State Assembly Transportation Committee, Chaired by Representative David Gantt. It would be helpful for NY residents who have already reserved Elios , those intending to reserve, or those that believe that common sense legislation should be the norm, not often at times the exception, to write to Representative Gantts office and request a hearing and vote on A09441. Legislators count on hearing from their constituents. If they dont, they will think this isnt much of an issue. States surrounding NY like PA, NJ, NH have already made the change, and VT is almost complete.
