Great River Wound and Hyperbaric Clinic has again earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for its wound-care program. The clinic received its initial disease-specific certification in 2006. Two-year recertification was awarded after an on-site evaluation of the clinic. Certification requirements address competence in three areas: - An organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities - Compliance with national standards Effective use of evidence-based practice guidelines to provide the best care - Great River Wound and Hyperbaric Clinic opened in 2004. It has provided more than 30,000 treatments in its four hyperbaric oxygen treatment areas. “In achieving Joint Commission certification, Great River Wound and Hyperbaric Clinic has demonstrated its commitment to the highest level of care for its patients,” said Michele Sacco, M.S., interim executive director, Certification Programs. “Certification is a voluntary process, and I commend this clinic for successfully undertaking this challenge to elevate its standard of care and instill confidence in the community it serves.” The clinic also holds accreditation with distinction from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society. Only 10 percent of hyperbaric clinics nationwide are accredited. “Certification from The Joint Commission shows that Great River Wound and Hyperbaric Clinic is dedicated to following the best practices in wound treatment,” said Cheryl Robben, director of Integrated Services at Great River Health Systems.
