Great Spark Love David My sons father and I are no longer together so we made a deal that Christmas morning dad would have him, and the evening he would drop him off for Christmas at night. Well Christmas morning his dad contacted me saying he was in Columbus (3 hours away)and wasnt going to drop him off. If I wanted him, I had to come get him. So what do ya do? We got in our 95 neon and drove all the way to Columbus. On the way there we heard a really loud POP, and the car started running really funny. Come to find out, my moms husband did a tune up on it before they gave it to us, and he put wrenched one of the spark plugs in so tight it stripped it. Therefore leaving us running on 3 cylinders instead of 4. We pulled over into this gas station to possibly buy a tool to wrench the spark plug back in. We walked inside and there was no one in sight??? How could this be, I could have sworn there was people outside pumping gas. We heard a beeping noise, figured someone was outside getting gas and had to come in to pay for it??! I look over at the door, where there was a sign on the door. Sign said, CLOSED Christmas Day Apparently someone left the side door open and forgot to lock it.... and we just happen to walk in... we walked out figuring the police would show up anytime and help us... and they never showed up, we waited for about a half an hour and decided that we would try another gas station. Finally driving like 25 mph we found one that was really open this time. We walked in and looked around, they had no tools what so ever :( To make sure we asked the person behind the desk. They confirmed they had no tools. At this point I figured, what a bad day... my sons dad dipped out on us, our car is jacked up and if we dont get it fixed we wont be having Christmas, and I wont even get to see my son... what a terrible mess! Then out of no where this man and his son walks up to us and says, I heard you need a socket wrench because one of your spark plugs blew out? I live right down the road, we can go grab you one and help you fix it. I literally started crying because at that point I had lost all hope. The man told his son to stay with us so to make sure we were ok, while he ran down the road to their house and grabbed the tools. When he came back the spark plug (luckily) was under the hood still and as they fixed it, we explained what had happened and why we were in the situation we were in. After they finished, I offered the gentleman and his son money, but they wouldnt take it. Just said have a Merry Christmas. Going from scared and afraid to that feeling of being safe again was something I thought would never happen that day. Those two guys pretty much saved us from having the worse Christmas ever, and they made it so I could spend Christmas day with my son opening presents. I never got the names of the two guys, I wish I would have, but at least I can tell the story of what they did for us and what lifesavers they were. Seeing what you guys do, makes me think of them. I try as much as I can to help others. The feeling you get is the best!!!!! These two guys, taking time away from their family, to go to the gas station, because they forgot to get milk for Christmas Dinner, is what sparked me to be a better person. It sparked me to help people, because not all the world is bad and full of evil. This story, and those two guys, are living proof! Thank you for your site, thank you for the blessed stories you can tell, and thank you for taking the time to read my story! Have a wonderful day :D
