Great Spark Love David Today I was out running errands. I went to the bank and to Target and was on my way home when I realized I forgot something. I pulled into the Walgreens parking lot and parked right in front of a homeless kid. Someone was walking by and he asked for some spare change and they just ignored him...like we all have done before. I looked in his face and there was sadness. My heart broke. I only had $1.50 ish in change and I gave him that before I went in the store. All I could think about was his face. He was only about 20ish and I kept thinking, what would his parents think if they knew he was hungry. I grabbed what I needed and then added some trail mix, lunchables, beef jerky, and orange juice, to my purchase. I also got some cash back. I went outside thinking to myself please still be there. He was. He was so gracious for the food, opening the lunchables and eating some immediately. I almost burst into tears. I gave him $10.00 and told him to stay warm. We often take for granted the good fortune we have. We complain about our food not being perfect or the weather not being perfect, when in reality, these things are insignificant. We get on facebook and get upset about silly links about cats. This kid. I bet he would kill to be in a nice, warm, house, eating crappy food and tooling around on facebook. I know I cant save him. I have no idea what brought him there. Maybe it was by choice. Maybe not. I only know that my heart is hurting for him and for others like him. Be kind to each other. We all have to look out for each other. I hope you are all safe, warm, and have full bellies. xo
