Great meeting with Cllr Steven Thomas from Coventry City Council about my LGBT+ Rugby Match and Out In Sport Campaign. We discussed the positive impact of social inclusion of students and the local community on the back of students negative press. We also discussed marketing and PR surrounding the event and how do we sell the concept to key partners including other Unions as it is "not on their doorstep". Finally sustainability came up. We talked about the concept as a "novelty event" or a sustainable yearly event and also how can we expand further? Is there an opportunity for regional events leading to a UK finals day? Brilliant knowledge, and great to see CUSU working with the authorities on a great cause!
