Midwives are challenged to get inside the intimacy of a women in a very short period of time, whereas this model of care you get to know the woman, what she wants, what makes her tick, whats important to her, how she wants her labour to go, because this is about her. Nursing Service Director of Womens and Family Services Cathy Styles said the collaborative agreement was part of the Queensland Governments commitment to the National Maternity Services Plan aimed at providing women with more choices in pregnancy and childbirth. The Nambour Hospital Maternity Unit, local obstetricians and private midwives on the Sunshine Coast will forge a unique agreement which allows private midwives to book in and admit mothers to Nambour General Hospital Maternity Unit, Ms Styles said.
