Great news for traffic users in the Finglas/Cabra area. Campbells - TopicsExpress

Great news for traffic users in the Finglas/Cabra area. Campbells Bridge is to be revamped later this month. Sinn Féin on both sides of the bridge had campaigned along with residents over the years for work to be carried out at this junction. Lets hope Iarnród Éireann plan to upgrade Broombridge next. :-) June 10th 2013 Ratoath Road Realignment & Overbridge Dear Resident / Business, One of the busiest manually operated rail level crossings on the Iarnród Éireann network at Reilly’s Bridge on the Ratoath Road, Dublin is to be replaced by a new over-bridge spanning the railway line and canal. Work will commence on site later this month with completion of the project at the start of 2015. This Iarnród Éireann project has been funded by the National Transport Authority. The new bridge will, in tandem with other planned projects, allow for future increased capacity on the rail line for train services. It will also eliminate major road congestion at the crossing, with 115 trains passing through the level crossing each day with up to 55 services passing in the peak hour traffic causing constant queues while the gates are closed. The project will link the Ratoath Road from approximately 300 metres south of the railway level crossing to the Ballyboggan Road junction to the north. Works will include the construction of 500 metres of road, a bridge over the railway and canal and a junction with the Ballyboggan Road. The new bridge will greatly help with the traffic flow on the Ratoath Road which provides a very widely used north-south connection from the North Inner City and Cabra to Finglas. Increased traffic and pedestrian safety together with the reduction in traffic congestion in the area will enable improved accessibility and linkages at peak and off peak times for work, shopping and leisure purposes. The road will also provide a much needed improvement to pedestrian and cycle facilities along this section of the Ratoath Road. Iarnród Éireann will also provide community liaison for the duration of the works. While impact on road travel and trains will be minimal, there will be construction works in the area over a period of 18 months. The company will work with residents, businesses and other stakeholders to: - Undertake a pre-condition survey on a small amount of properties to verify that works have no effect - Inform residents and businesses in advance of the stages of works, including a relatively limited amount of night works which will be necessary when trains are non-operational - Provide an ongoing point of contact for local residents and businesses by locall phone number and email as follows: 1890253555 and [email protected] Every endeavour will be made to minimise impact on neighbouring properties. The contractor will use best practice in regards to construction activities which may create disruption during these railway works. We will ensure through the site briefing process that it is made clear the residential nature of the local area. Only residents and businesses in proximity to these works have received this notification, in addition to other local stakeholders. Thank you for your co-operation as we carry out these necessary improvement works. Yours sincerely, Community Liaison Office
