Great things are happening in Honey Harbour, Canada! Thanks to volunteer invasive Phragmites cutters today in Church Bay, native wetland habitat has been returned to an important part of the shoreline. With continued clearing, this invasive root system wont have a chance now. Congratulations to Katrina Gaibisels, project lead - Katrina is the Phragmites Project Coordinator with Georgian Bay Forever (GBF). She is involved in community outreach and education, research, and coordination. Prior to joining GBF, Katrina completed an Honours Bachelor of Science degree at Ottawas Carleton University in Biology. Her family has had a cottage on the Bay for over 50 years (thats Elm Cove Cottages!). She is an avid outdoorswoman, and has grown up running, biking, kayaking, and canoe camping throughout the parks of southern Ontario. Katrina is set to begin a Master of Science degree at York University in the Fall. GBF preserves, enhances and protects the aquatic ecosystems of Georgian Bay through scientific research and education. GBF works collaboratively with agencies and NGOs in Canada and the United States to undertake projects that help protect Georgian Bay
