Green Bay Packer Defensive Lineman Mike Daniels has declared his support for my soon to be released book, Nothing to Show for it. Heres what he had to say directly- There are fundamental truths laid out in this book that will provide guidance and direction to incoming male student-athletes. Vernon does an excellent job of describing the many traps and pitfalls that young men often learn from their unfortunate experience of unwitting self-destruction. Mike Daniels was an outstanding defensive tackle at the University of Iowa where he became a team leader and dominated the Big Ten for multiple seasons. Daniels has gone on to establish himself as one of the strongest, toughest and most respected defensive linemen in the entire NFL. He has proven that he can play on the inside and outside of the defensive line and that hes a dominant pass rusher as well as run stopper. More importantly, in the face of great fame and success, Daniels continues to lead his life as a grounded, God fearing family man. I personally know him to be a great husband to his beautiful wife and a dedicated father to his two young sons. I met Mike Daniels soon after his arrival in Iowa City when he walked up to me out of nowhere and said I heard youre a strong Christian man, why dont you take me to church with you? Well I did take him to church with me and we spent the next two years hanging out always discussing and debating the good and bad aspects of life as student athletes as well as the traps that many of our peers were falling into. Mike would frequently call me or see me on campus and say Vern, what do you think about such and such issue? This would always open the door for me to get on my soap box and enthusiastically declare my opinion on whatever issue it was. As a result of the time I spent around Mike I had no doubt that he would go on to success in whatever field he chose, he has not disappointed. This young man graduated with honors in sociology and can now be seen sacking the top Quarter Backs in the NFL every Sunday. Im proud to have him endorse my book! Heaven Daniels M.
