Greetings Event Riders It’s that time of year again when we start putting together the team for the biggest and most technical (for us anyway) event of the season. The Auckland Marathon is now owned by the ITU Triathlon organisation and will change slightly form previous events. For example, the quarter marathon will now also cross the harbour bridge. Details are on the marathon web site at aucklandmarathon.co.nz/ We will need 12 or 13 riders this year – up from 7 or 8 last year. Working in pairs we will cover the following events: Marathon Lead Male – two riders Lead Female – two riders Half Marathon Lead Male – two riders Lead Female – two riders Quarter Marathon Lead Male – two riders Lead Female – two riders Media (unconfirmed) One (plus) riders The quarter marathon riders will need to be very sharp as the leaders will be caught up with the tail of the full marathon and possibly some of the half event as well. That will mean ‘plowing’ a route for the elite quarter runners; no easy task as some of you will recall from the early years. Please let me know ASAP if you are available for this event. We will also need you for a recce sometime in the preceding days. Two week later is the Bike the Bridge event.
