Greetings Everyone: If you have not seen the movie "The Butler" then I strongly recommend that you see it. It stars Forest Whitaker as the Butler who served 8 Presidents in the White House. The story of the Black struggle for equal rights is told through his eyes. It is a good film filled with history. If you know anything about Black History it will bring to mind the poem by Paul Lawrence Dunbar called "We Wear the Mask." The film is playing at area theaters and it is a must see film ! Look for my review of the movie in the Criterion newspaper next week Saturday - September 7, 2013. It is directed by Lee Daniels and includes such actors as Oprah Winfrey, Terrance Howard, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Clarence Williams 111, Jane Fonda and others. A great movie ! Eva M. Doyle, Historian
