Greetings earth people and friends a like. I bring you much peace & love. Well I am back. At least most of me that is. First I want to thank all of you for your kind words, support and love. It was much felt and deeply appreciated. Also I want to thank my friend Chris for taking over while I was gone. I am going to tell you what happened to me in detail. I decided not to hold anything back from you. A couple of things I say here might shock you. But I want you to know the full story. As some of you know I have been struggling with type I Diabetes since i was 16. I didnt know I had it until one day it started to effect my eyes. As time went on it started to effect my legs and feet.I didnt always keep my blood sugars under full control. I fooled myself into thinking I was young, healthy and whatever the bad comes from being a diabetic, happens to someone else, Just not me. Two years ago I ended up in the hospital as some of you may recall for 2 full months. It was hell. I had a serious right foot infection and the side of my right foot opened up with a big hole. After two years it finally healed.Thats with weekly wound care visits. About 3-4 months ago my left foot started having problems. The heel had a large crack like soar. Then it got bigger. Then pretty soon the skin on my heel started to wear down so I was now working towards the bone. I kept seeing my doctor about it and going to wound care weekly. Then I started getting sick. I often had a fever of 99 to 100.9. They tried heavy antibiotics, debreading of the foot and everything they could do. I really thought it would get better in time, My doctor was more focused on my right foot causing the health issues because he thought the infection had was in the bones in my right foot. So I took an MRI 2 months ago and it was fine. The last time I went into see my doctor I was week and very sick. I didnt even have strength to move myself in my wheelchair so my mom had to push me. Four days later I took a shower and was putting a sock on my left foot. I noticed there was 4 new white 1 inch blisters on my left foot. One on the side and three on the bottom. I knew exactly what that meant. Lucky for me my dad was home at the time and I called him up to my room and showed him. I said we need to get to the hospital immediately. In 20 minutes we were out the door. Long story short, I went through two surgeries. The first one was to be evaluated to see if they could save my foot. It was determined it was too far infected and if I kept it I would most likely die from the infection and all the IV antibiotics and treatment I would need and still it might not work. Two days later came the 2nd surgery. I had to have my left foot and part of my left leg below the knee amputated. I have been going through physical therapy. I was approved to go to this special rehab place at the hospital for two weeks of therapy but at the last minute we found out my insurance didnt cover it. So that left me the option of going into a nursing home for two weeks or just going home. That in itself was major stress. Both parents wanted me to go into a nursing home and so didnt everyone else. But I refused to go. Finally I convinced the hospital doctor and parents to let me go home. So they had to do many things downstairs in a side living room. Because i cant walk right now except with a walker in baby steps. I wont be able to access my room for at least 3-4 months. Once my leg was off, my health started to quickly return and my lab work is now near perfect showing no infection. My docs at the hospital said if i had not gone to the hospital within 24 hours, I would have died. I have lots more to say but all in good time. I want to strongly encourage everyone to please get your blood sugars tested as soon as you can. You can even get a free meter. I will post it here tomorrow. Enclosing I wanted to say that life is precious and should never be taken for granted. I have seen some music videos where someone is walking through a desert and the next frame, a second later they are walking through rain and then through snow. Thats how fast life can change for any of us. I never thought I would be in this position but here I am. Thank you again for your support, kind words and love.
