Greetings everyone! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Heres an update on Cameron and his big move to St. Joesphs Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor! Cameron has been here for just under 2 weeks and the doctors say that Cameron has made improvement since his arrival. Cameron still has a very long road to recovery. So far since Cameron has been here in Ann Arbor, he has been busy with Occupational, physical, speech and recreational therapy! He does therapy from 8:30 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. Since his therapy, Cameron is moving his head and neck more, also tracking (following objects with his eyes) more frequently and giving thumbs up with his right hand. Just in the past few days Cameron has been moaning, which we dont get much, so its always great to get a moan! Also, another big improvement, Cameron has his wheelchair! St. Joes doesnt mess around, they get the job done. Cameron had a brain scan done about 8 months ago, that read that he had slim to none brain activity. Last Thursday, we had another brain scan done on him, and his brain activity has increased by a whole 5 stages. His process of thinking is delayed, which is to be expected his brain specialist says but with special treatment, it could increase. Dr. Perlman, his TBI M.D. has made it known that he believes it would be best if Cameron would receive a treatment called Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBOT). Cameron would get this treatment 5 days a week for an hour and fifteen minutes for 8 weeks. This treatment is well known for all sorts of injuries and disabilities. Its been proven in most cases that people who received this treatment with a traumatic brain injury recovered brain functions up to 90%. Also, it helps to heals numerous diseases and wounds. Cameron is getting a lot of rest, which is great because he never got sleep before he came here. Rest, is a top priority here at St. Joes for a road to recovery. More sleep for Cameron, means the better he does at therapy the next day. Cameron, all of his loved ones and I were told 10 months ago, that he would never make it through the night. That he would never do anything, not a single thing again, and he has taken on the biggest trial on of his life. He is a fighter and he has gotten so far and he will get through this! We thank you all for following and all of your prayers and kind words! #praying4cameron
