Greetings fellow Pawsians, Can you belive after tonight we only have 2 more meetings left!!!!! As a reminder next week we are holding pawfficer elections and green lighting. Even if you are not running it is IMPERATIVE and really IMPORTANT that you come ti this meeting because we need the voting members of PAWS to help decide where the club will go from here. In case you want to run for a position and you for got some of the details here is a description of each position as defined by our constitution: President: The president will serve as the club’s spokesperson and representative for internal affairs, and also serves as the main liaison so the University administration (including the faculty advisor). The president also serves as primary interpreter of the constitution and has final say over what a particular passage means in the event that confusion arises. The president is also the tiebreaker in the election process (which is described below). The president also serves as the main representative to the membership quorum. Communication with current and perspective members (through any medium, i.e. facebook, email etc.) is primarily organized by the president. However, other club officers may also answer email that is directed towards them. The president is in charge of running public meetings and officer meetings. The president also upkeeps interclub relations and is the primary organizer of interclub events. The president is responsible for the proper upkeep and organization of the club’s UConnntact page an e-mail account. Finally, the president shall be available to assist any other officer upon request. Event Coordinator: The event coordinator acts as a technical supervisor for all productions. This entails that they are available for consult with event services and the directors, budgeting help, and usher organization upon request, but the primary responsibility for a shows technical aspects lies with the show’s stage manager (who is chosen by the director. This person will be responsible for organizing technical aspects of the show as well as organizing a tech crew and obtaining ushers). Upon request the event coordinator may assist the stage manager of a show, but is not responsible for the final say. The event coordinator is responsible for scheduling times and locations of general meetings for both PAWS and Scared Scriptless as well as rehearsal spaces. Treasurer: The treasure is in charge of all the club’s finances. They will give a bi-monthly update of the club’s funds. They are also in charge of depositing money gained from productions and/or fundraisers. The treasurer is also in charge of withdrawing money at the request of the officers or directors of productions (with approval by the officers). The treasurer is in charge of drafting a finalized budget after budget meetings with directors and officers for submission to the club’s records. The treasurer is also in charge of meeting with financial aid sources (USG, etc.) for funding requests in a prompt fashion. The treasurer is also in charge of collection ticket sales at the door of any production, or appointing someone to do so. They will be in charge of drafting a profit/loss figure at the end of a production to be submitted to the club. The treasurer handles club-wide fundraising, and fundraising for the director organizes productions with help given on a request-need basis by the treasurer. Finally, the treasurer is in charge of writing checks to charitable causes on a need basis. The treasurer will also be in charge of financial planning for UCPG upon request. Secretary: The secretary is in charge of taking down detailed minutes at both officer and public meetings. They will post these minutes on the facebook group shortly following these meetings. The secretary is also in charge of taking attendance at public and officer meetings. The task of record keeping is in charge of the secretary. In addition to the aforementioned records, this also includes lists taken at meetings (tech lists, fundraising lists, etc.). The secretary will make these lists available upon request. The secretary will assist the event coordinator in keeping a staunch record of space reserved for the club. The secretary also organizes publicity. In a club-wide manner, the secretary is in charge of publicizing club wide events. In terms of productions, the secretary is in charge of providing the means for publicity (contact names, flyer making, phone numbers etc), but is not in charge of publicity for individual productions unless an agreement is reached between a director and the officers prior. Directors are primarily in charge of their own publicity for the productions they direct. The secretary will also be in charge of organizing press releases pertinent to UCPG. Scared Scriptless General Manager: The improv officer is in charge of all things improv, including organizing events both within the club and for outside events, supervising publicity for these events, fundraising if necessary, and working with club officers to organize room requests and show space. The improv officer will act as the Emcee at all improv events. The improv officer will be in charge of giving updates of Improv events at general meetings.
