Greetings in the Name of our Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ... As we celebrate the Universal Exaltation of the Holy Cross, may our Lord bless and strengthen you by the power of the Cross. To all those who may be celebrating their nameday today, may you be blessed and sanctified by the power and love of the Life-Giving Holy Cross. On the occasion of the Universal Elevation of the Holy Cross the Cross will be processed in our Church today. Immediately following the Doxology, the Cross will be brought forth and placed in front of the Holy Altar. During the celebration of the Divine Liturgy we will be able to contemplate the love that God has for us as we view the Cross during the Divine Liturgy. This great feast day of the Church is a day of prayer and fasting as we contemplate the sacrifice of our Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ on the Cross. The love that we receive from His Passion is experienced in the promise of the glorious Resurrection. Let us also celebrate the only accredited Christian Orthodox College and Theological School in the Western Hemisphere: Hellenic College - Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, Massachusetts. The Elevation of the Holy Cross is the feastday of our seminary and as we celebrate this day, let us pray for support and guidance of this sacred academic institution that prepares priests and laypeople for service to our Greek Orthodox Church in America. Following the Divine Services on Sunday morning the Philoptochos offered a special tray to support our seminary.
