Greetings to all our blues friends! Last week at the Madison, it was a good start to a new year of jams with our special guest Joseph Barton. Tasty musicians, appreciative audience members and a great staff - what more could you want? This week were happy to be bringing back Randy Norris as our special guest. Randy is a phenomenal guitarist and singer (and a pretty good songwriter as well!) who currently plays with the Randy Oxford Band and as half of the Norris-Nicely Duo. A native of Wichita, Kansas, Randy has more than 30 years experience burning up stages all over the country with his charismatic voice and intense passion that shows through his music. Some of the noteworthy musicians he has shared the stage with include Jack Mack & the Heart Attack and the Boxtops, as well as opening for such acts as the Neville Brothers, Rare Earth, the Average White Band, Etta James and many others. After spending ten years in the Los Angeles area with sessions and sideman work, Randy relocated to the Northwest where he played with numerous great bands before joining the Randy Oxford Band and forming the Norris-Nicely Duo with Jeff Nicely, a member of Blues Therapy (one of the fabulous bands Randy has played in). Randy and Jeff made it to the semi-finals at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis (in the solo/duo category) in 2012 and 2013. Come on down to the Madison on Wednesday and welcome Randy for the opening set at 7:30, then stick around for more fun and music all evening long. You never know who might pop in! Speaking of the IBC in Memphis, this coming Saturday, January 17, Hot Blues Saturdays at the Madison will present the Mixed Bag O Blues, featuring sets by Rafael Tranquilino, Leah Tussing and CD Woodbury, and a grand finale with all three sharing the stage. Backed up by Dave on drums and Paul on bass, this evenings show should be a blast, especially since Rafael and Leah will be leaving the next day to get ready for the IBC, where theyll be representing the WA Blues Society. CD Woodbury (along with the rest of the CD Woodbury Band), will also be going to Memphis representing the South Sound Blues Society. Good luck to all of you - we feel blessed to have such great musicians representing the rest of us in the Pacific Northwest! Thats it for now, except to express our thanks for your support in the past, present, and hopefully future. Remember to support live music in your community - thanks to your support we can all play and entertain you! All the best, Paul, Willow and Dave - Unbound p.s. Remember to bring your appetite for the Blues Plate Special! GO HAWKS!!!
