Grenade hurled in SoporeSopore, Oct 17: Unknown persons hurled a grenade at Nowpora Sopore late last evening.Official sources said that some unknown persons lobbed a hand grenade towards a residential house of Showkat Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Rasool at Nowpora Kalan.However, the grenade did not explode, they said.Soon after the incident, police and army reached the spot and recovered the grenade from the area.Showkat Ahmad, according to sources, is a businessman and is running a shop at fruit Mandi in Sopore.Meanwhile An army porter Nazir Ahmad Sheikh son of Dilawer Sheikh of Melyaal Kupwara who was injured in Keran sector ofKupwara district last week succumbed to injuries Thursday morning.Nazir along with other associates were engaged by army in construction work of border fencing at Hill Top along Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector earlier this month.On 8th October,Nazir got seriously injured after he slipped and fell down about 100 meters deep in the area.Sheikh was immediately admitted in army’s 92 base hospital in Srinagar for treatment, however, Yesterday morning he succumbed to injuries.
