Gripe of the Day: Judy has watched at least ten hours of house remodeling, and the programs kill me. On the shows, the different people, who look as if they have minimum wage jobs, buy dilapidated houses for $400,000 to $1,250,000 and invest more money to make the house livable. In FL, $400,000 is a brand new, five bedroom, three stall garage, pool, gated neighborhood, and ready to move into house. The $420,000 house that is on TV now, would sell for $50,000 in FL. I wondered why a friend’s son chose an engineering job out of college for $50,000 in VA instead of going with his buddy and accepting an engineering job for $100,000 in CA. If the houses were on the beach, then I could see some extra, but an additional $350,000 to $1,000,000 is ridiculous. What makes the houses so expensive? From the shows, it’s not the view, and it’s not a beautiful neighborhood.
