Group Input Needed: Ive been divorced for a year now. To get my ex to finally sign the divorce papers for a joint custody agreement, I agreed to paying all child care and not asking for child support. This is for 3 children and child care costs me over $8K a year. We are now back in court for custody and I am asking for child support and that he pays 50% of child care costs. I make have more income than he does, and lately he has been making statements such as he is going to go after full custody (we currently have joint, me as primary) and I will have to pay him child support. He says I am lucky I am not paying him. He also says that he wont have to pay me a dime because I make so much. I am getting that crazy making feeling because when my lawyer and I do the state worksheet, with my current income, our current custody agreement, and assuming he makes minimum wage (he makes more than that); I would still get child support. I would also get support back from the date I filed the order to amend custody, correct? My ex seems to think a judge would waive him having to pay because I make millions of dollars (I wish). He has not financially supported the kids one bit and I pay for everything, I would think a judge would want him to have some financial responsibility. Has anyone else had a similar experience making more money as the primary parent and the non custodial parent thinking they wouldnt have to pay?
