Growing up every Sunday was thanksgiving at grandma ollie Hayes - TopicsExpress

Growing up every Sunday was thanksgiving at grandma ollie Hayes house. Church would end around 12ish and everybody would gather at her and grandpas home on Fairgrounds. I know i would wait all week looking foward to that dinner and who might show up. If you did not show up you could bank on getting your phone call come and eat reminding you that it was Sunday dinner time. Every Sunday was thanksgiving and family time. She still has pictures from certain Sundays where the pastors family came to eat. The tabel so full of people that another was set up in her and grandpas living room for us kids our chairs were always in good shape :) we are sitting on the floor with a table before us eating and happy. Black Friday was every Saturday going to vergies junk store and Arnold Wrights store. Grandma always made sure on our black Friday Saturdays the grandkids had a load of stuff to play with and food. She would buy us real dishes from vergies to add to our play houses in her and grandpas yard. She even got us a pretend phone the kind with the long cords perfect for hanging from a tree to take our calls on. The coal pile and small wooden blocks was our play ground. The wood blocks were great for building small barbie houses ext.. I will never forget when grandpa Shirly Hayes got railings put on his blue ford truck it was a wonderland. We could climb jump and play jail. Anything we did not have we did not know we loved what we did have. Even on my grandpas birthday he was asked as people are today what he wanted and he told grandma he wanted his family to eat with him. The thanksgivings of today and black Friday deals have nothing on those of the ones grandma and grandpa had. My grandma serves as a reminder to me that family should get together with big dinners and visits as often as they can not just because there is a name for it one or two times a year. She also serves as a reminder to me that black friday has nothing on finding things you need brand new or a little used for $5 or less at a good junk store. :) Thank you Jesus for the family you placed me in.
