Growing up in a large family, we were always striving to be better then the next person. We werent a rich family, but we did have money. Though at times it was hard to see as dad was always so tight with it. Mum was just as bad. New clothes were a rare gift, yes I call it gift because it was only in Christmas we received them. Throughout the year, we rely on hand me downs from the families or friends. But we appreciated it because to us it was new. Spring of 86 my mothers health started deteriorating. We sought medical help but no medical professional could tell us what was wrong with our mum. Dad started changing, it seemed like he grew 30 years within two months of our mothers sickness. He looked strained, like life finally took a toll on him too. I was the second eldest of 9 childrens which consists of 4boys and 5girls. My youngest two sisters are twins. My name is Lorettah, and this is my heart story. At 18 years old just finishing High School, I was looking forward to College. But due to my mothers health College had to wait. My older brother John continued to work as he became the main provider for our family. John hardly came to see mum at the hospital but he tried. Its was four months we were all still puzzle over mums illness, dad was about to give up hope. I became the domestic one. Taking care of the young ones and making sure the house was kept clean. On the night I was busy with my twin sisters production I didnt have time to go see my mother, but it was the night our lives took a different path, that changed our life as we know it ............
