Guess what? It’s only 12 months to Christmas! In the words of the John Lennon hit “Merry Christmas War is Over”, another year over and what have you done? Well in our Club we can look back at another successful year, not only fund raising, but also getting even more involved in the Local Community, but we didn’t do this alone. Regular readers of this column will have noticed me mentioning our Business Partners. These are local businesses who support the club. I was invited to one of these partners: Avon Reach (Colten Care) Residential Care Home in Mudeford for an Auction in support of Children in Need. When thinking of going out for the evening, visiting the local care home is probably not everyone’s first choice. Well surprises all round. Drinks and nibbles were provided, alongside the auction of items supplied and made by residents. By the end of the evening over £ 700 had been raised! Residents, Staff and families enjoyed the evening, raised money for a worthy cause, and left feeling good about themselves. Not a case of Rotary in Action, just a case of “putting something” back, which all equals the same result. Business Partners are a relatively new concept within Rotary but their involvement has been a breath of fresh air and it is only right to thank them all for their valuable support, which has shown itself in many ways. So, to all our Club Members, Business Partners and so many others who have supported us we thank you all and wish you all another great year ahead. And don’t forget its only 12 months to Christmas.
