Guild Park is back in the news. The City of Toronto, which manages Guild Parks operations, has approved Dynamic Hospitality & Entertainment to be operator for an on-site restaurant. According to City officials, the Guild Parks grounds will remain open to the public. Dynamic plans to work with the City to restore parts of the original Guild Inn building. Dynamic would then build low-rise contemporary additions. Plans are at a very preliminary stage and will require some form of public input. Dynamics proposal becomes the fourth plan now underway to revitalize the 88-acre Guild Park. The other current plans are: 1. A Park Management Plan. Torontos Parks, Forestry & Recreation Dept. is about to release its operation plan for managing, maintaining and improving the parks existing features, including forest, trails, gardens, public art. 2. A Cultural Precinct Plan. Torontos Cultural Department expects to begin updating its 2010 draft proposal to see Guild Park become site for new facilities, such as art exhibit space, artists studios, expanded sculpture garden. The City approved $5.3 million in capital funding for this project for 2014-2023 3. A Waterfront Study. Guild Parks shoreline is being examined by the agency that actually owns Guild Park, Toronto & Region Conservation Authority (TRCA). This will consider how best to use the shore area of Guild Park to link with existing waterfront trails to the east and west.
