Guild of Students, University of Birmingham has booked places on a coach to the National Demonstration Against Racism in London, this Saturday. A day of action has been called for across Europe on 22nd March to coincide with UN Anti-racism Day and this demonstration is part of it. With the European Elections coming up in May, this event is meant to send a message to parties that the scapegoating of immigrants is unacceptable and that racism and Islamophobia must be tackled. It will also be held in memory of Nelson Mandela and the values of diversity, democracy and equality that he represents. Many organisations and communities have come together to call for this parade and rally. The Guild will be joining them in rejecting racism and showing that migrants are welcome. Let’s celebrate diversity by expressing our cultures and identities. Let’s demonstrate our confidence in a future free of scapegoating, racism and hatred. Meeting place: The Bull outside the Bull Ring Times: Meet at Bull at 7.45am. The demonstration starts at 11am. The coach leaves London at 5pm.
